Farmers Protest

Ernst & Young

An experimental desktop film

This highly unconventional desktop documentary film is an immersive experience going beyond the headlines of the media and tweets to tell the story of the farmers’ protests that swept across India from September 2020.

We see through the eyes of the director responding to images through collaborative artistic expression as a response to collective stress and optimism. Created by Narvir Singh, this film brings together real emails, conference calls, social media conversations, and footage shot by protesters on the ground.

This unusual process leads to a short film with astounding immediacy as the director attempts to make sense of a growing movement.

This is not the definitive, objective record of one of the most powerful opposition movements that swept India since its creation by the British in 1947, but an impressionistic view of the movement and the power of art to connect and heal.
